Center For Babywearing Studies

The problem
Parents, caregivers, and family support professionals often lack access to structured education and expert guidance on safe and effective babywearing. At the same time, individuals interested in becoming babywearing educators face limited training opportunities, making it difficult to build the knowledge, confidence, and credentials needed to support families in their communities.
What we built
The Center for Babywearing Studies (CBWS) is an education and certification platform that trains professionals to become qualified babywearing educators. Through evidence-based courses, certification programs, and ongoing professional development, CBWS empowers individuals to help families safely and confidently use baby carriers while strengthening parent-child bonding and supporting early childhood development. Professional babywearing education — Provides comprehensive training and certification programs for healthcare professionals, doulas, lactation consultants, birth workers, and caregivers who want to offer babywearing education as part of their services. Evidence-based learning — Delivers practical, research-informed instruction on selecting, fitting, and safely using baby carriers, equipping educators with the skills needed to support diverse families. Career development opportunities — Helps individuals build successful careers as babywearing educators by providing specialized knowledge, professional credentials, and the confidence to offer one-on-one consultations, workshops, and community education. Support for families and caregivers — Enables trained educators to guide parents and caregivers toward safe, comfortable, and effective babywearing practices that strengthen caregiver-infant bonding and improve everyday caregiving experiences. Strengthening early parenting communities — Rather than simply teaching baby carrier techniques, CBWS builds a network of qualified educators who promote informed parenting, community support, and positive public health outcomes through babywearing education.
